Your Weekend Roundup from Backstory & Strategy
In case you missed it: Five big ideas on loyalty, innovation, and finding your newsroom's superpowers.

Yay! It’s the weekend! I don’t know about you, but it has been a long week, with a highlight for me being the Public Media Leadership Summit in New York City, sponsored by the Public Media Venture Group. I participated on a panel “Newsfluencers: The Creator Academy,” with two great people, Diana Riojas from The City and Gerrie Lim from The Pigeon Post. Highly recommend that you check out their work.
As for me, here is what I talked about on Backstory & Strategy this week, in case you missed it:
I introduced a simple framework to help newsrooms move from endless analysis to focused, actionable solutions.
Your Newsroom’s Hidden Superpowers
A look at the unique, often overlooked assets that already exist inside your organization that can be leveraged for growth.
Why traditional audience loyalty is eroding and what it takes to build durable, trust-based relationships today.
What’s Clouding Your Mind Today?
A more reflective piece on the mental hurdles that get in the way of clear, strategic thinking.
The Infrastructure That Built Public Media Won’t Be What Saves It
My argument for why public media must embrace a culture of relentless experimentation to survive its current perfect storm.
On Saturday, I’m heading to Chicago to visit some with some great news organizations and meet some of my API team members in person for the first time. While I still plan to write, you’ll have to forgive me if my schedule is a bit off.
I hope you have a great weekend, and I look forward to seeing you on Monday.
With continued appreciation,
-Yoni
