Boom! Nailed it. We live in a software era, and software is all about scale.
As somebody with nearly 30 years of software experience, the biggest challenge news organizations face is that they’re designed to be local, so they cannot afford, nor do they have mentality to think beyond their local community, so as a result can’t/will not design their organizations and systems to scale nationally much less globally, and as a result, become victims of those who design and operate at scale.
That’s why I’m building Fido, to deliver national/global scale but with a local focus, and in a way that can be leveraged by local publishers.
It’s the platform, stupid! And until we understand and build it, we will always be held hostage to those who do.
